Commonwealth of Kentucky Colonel
On Wednesday 18 April, Ms Danita Ellis, was honored by SWHS JROTC. SFC Jeannie Cottle presented Ms Ellis with the Commonwealth of Kentucky Colonel commission certificate. In the presentation SFC Cottle read the following; "The highest honor awarded by the Commonwealth of Kentucky is that of a Kentucky Colonel. Our Colonels are Kentucky’s ambassadors of good will and fellowship around the world. The Kentucky Colonel has become synonymous with strength of character, leadership and dedication to the welfare of others" and then told the student body that, Individuals are commissioned for their contributions to the community, state or nation, and for special achievements, service and accomplishments on behalf of others. SFC Cottle told Ms Ellis, in the military we having a saying - "Lead by Example" and then turned to the student body and told them here you have a principal who does just that, Leads by example. In watching Ms Ellis as our Principal I know that she would never ask any student, teacher or parent to do something that she would not do herself. Ms Ellis was then presented with her Kentucky Colonel certificate and a large clock decorated in school colors and logo for the school front office.
